Alleged iOS 19 leaked screenshot shows what the new interface will look like

According to Bloomberg, Apple has been working on a new interface for iOS and macOS, which will make both operating systems more similar to visionOS. What exactly this means remains to be seen, but now an alleged leaked screenshot of iOS 19 shows us what to expect from the new design.

iOS 19 to have a new interface, but it may not be radically different

The screenshot shared by YouTuber Jon Prosser shows Apple’s Messages app. While most of the interface looks the same, we can see slightly redesigned buttons at the top. The buttons are now covered by a circle with a reflective glass effect, similar to visionOS. The iPhone’s virtual keyboard also seems to have been slightly redesigned, now with more rounded edges.

Also according to Prosser, users expecting a major redesign may end up getting disappointed. That’s because his sources claim that the new interface won’t be radically different from the current one, although it will in fact have more elements inspired by the Apple Vision Pro operating system.

The YouTuber was the first to suggest that Apple has been working on a new interface for iOS 19. He shared a mockup of what could be a brand new Camera app for the iPhone with buttons floating on the screen. The rumor was corroborated by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who said earlier this month that iOS 19 and macOS 16 will mark the “most significant upgrade” to the interface in years.

To back up the rumors, the WWDC 2025 artwork unveiled today is heavily inspired by visionOS, with glass-like elements, depth and shadows.

If the buttons really do look like that, I wonder if there will be a slight movement effect to them when you move the phone, like it does with the Apple Cash card. I hope they are subtle with it though. I don’t think we want to go back to the early 2000s super shadows and 3D effects.

The last time Apple completely redesigned iOS was in 2013 with iOS 7. Then, in 2020, the company introduced macOS Big Sur with slightly 3D icons, which raised questions about whether or when Apple would bring this same icon style to iOS. Given recent events, a redesign now seems more likely.

Apple will unveil iOS 19 at WWDC 2025 on June 9. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
